Sayed Ihsanuddin Taheri is a prominent civil activist, politician, and independent author from Afghanistan. He was born in December 1984 and has been involved in various government positions in the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan since 2002.
He served as Acting Deputy Minister of Finance for Administration and Director General of Finance and Administration until 15th of August 2021. At the Ministry of Finance, He was also the Chairman of the Board of Directors of several state-owned corporations, including Ariana Afghan Airlines, Bakhtar Afghan Airlines, Afghanistan Telecommunications Company, and Afghanistan High Security Printing Press. Taheri was also a member of the Leadership Committee of Afghan Red Crescent Society, which is a humanitarian organization that provides emergency assistance to people affected by natural disasters, conflicts, and other crises.
In addition to his government and humanitarian work, Taheri is also involved in sports and media. He was an elected member of World Aquatics (former FINA) International Swimming Federation’s Media Committee representing Asia for the years 2017-2022. Taheri previously served as the President of the Afghanistan National Swimming Federation for three years from 2016-2019. He is also an accomplished author; written several articles on Afghanistan’s political and social issues.
Sayed Ihsan Taheri’s previous government positions include serving as Director of Press and Communications to the President of Afghanistan, the Spokesperson to the Afghanistan High Peace Council and Director of Media and Strategic Communications in the Government Secretariat for Peace Process. He also headed the Afghan Government Monitoring and Evaluation Authority, which was responsible for monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of government policies and programs. He also served as Assistant Vice President of Afghanistan.
Taheri’s diverse background and extensive experience in government, sports, media, and civil society make him one of the well-respected and influential figures among the Youth in Afghanistan.
